This HORIZONTAL priority has been chosen since the digital era in the construction sector has found its way to the big and also most medium sized companies, whereas the majority of small companies (< 10 employees) is still at the beginning of making use of digital solutions and also digital learning and training paths for their staff. The VET-centres have a crucial function in this process by conveying VET-contents in a digital manner with digital learning offers. The majority of people being trained in VET-centres of the construction branch is younger than 22 years of age. They see digital offers like APPs as a daily and normal source of information and for other purposes, e.g. vocational training.

This VET priority has been chosen since the core of all VET curricula is still in classical form, i.e. written curricula in form of text. To strengthen the key competence of "digital competence" the VET-centres should increase the number and quality of digital offers for smart devices to meet the informal competences of people/customers and thus make it easier for them to go for learning and vocational training because it is not so far away from them in the form they are used to. The ICT-competences will become more important for construction workers, when the BIM (Building information modelling) will totally influence the construction branch, and this requires good ICT skills for ALL workers (even in small companies).
