REG CON / 2008 - 2010 / Regions of Knowledge, Coordination Action, FP7

The driving idea of REG CON is the advancement of the concept of “R&D based clustering” across regions of Europe with a thematic focus on construction. Over the last decade clusters and cluster initiatives have been recognized as a successful tool for economic development all over the world. Clusters are very important settings for enhancing productivity and added value of SMEs by providing SMEs with better access to knowledge and skills, R&D infrastructure, networking, support for partnerships, marketing, production systems, innovation, technologies and co-financing from private and public players. Project partnership was based on two advanced construction clusters: Finland & Slovenia [mentors] and three regions with “clusters initiatives” which needed to be and were transformed into clusters [Poland, Spain and Greece].
