Mitja Gorenšček


Mitja Gorenšček became Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia on 1 January 2018.

In 2022 he was elected member of the National Council as a representative of employers for the second time. From January 26, 2023 he is president of the National Council's Commission for Economy, Trade, Tourism and Finance. He is also member of the National Council's Commission for Social Care, Labour, Health and the Disabled

He has a degree in economics. His current work experience was attained in the Iskra system and its related firms. He began his career in 1988 in Iskra Bovec d.o.o. in the field of human resources and continued as an independent expert for development, coordination, and introduction of optimal business solutions in the field of quality, in order to fulfil the company’s strategies and goals. He acquired knowledge of ISO standards and became professional head of the purchasing department, where he gained knowledge and experience in the field of foreign trade and customs. Subsequently, he took over the management of the sales department.

From 1 March 2008 until 31 December 2017 he worked as director of Iskra Bovec (the company changed its name on numerous occasions during his tenure: Letrika Bovec, Mahle Letrika Bovec, as well as Mahle Electric Drives Bovec). During this period he was member of the CCIS Management Board, president of Electronics and Electrical Industry Association's management board, member of management board of Northern Primorska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, vice president of Development Council of Goriško Region, member of management board of Managers’ Association, as well as active member of other smaller regional associations and societies. Moreover, he is a council member of the Spirit Agency.
