Ecologic own goal! Position of the CCIS on planning and execution of infrastructure investments

We have encountered a substantial paradox: Slovenia has considerable unexploited hydro-energy potential, while the share of renewable energy sources, despite the set of binding commitments of the EU climate and energy package, is decreasing! We object the unjustified expansion of the Natura 2000 network, which is causing delays in the integration and construction of infrastructure facilities on 37% of protected areas.

 DATA SECTION

Statistics data

Below you will find some statistical data for Slovenia.

In December 2012, the annual growth of consumer prices was 2.7%, and in the period I-XII 2012, consumer prices rose by 2.6%. Industrial production in November 2012, compared to November 2011, decreased by 3.6%, while turnover in retail trade fell by 6.1% and the value of turnover in construction fell by 20.4%.

In comparison with the same period in 2011, Slovenia registered a 2.2% drop in the economic growth in the first three quarters of 2012. The beginning of 2013 will bring many unknowns and uncertainty, which will require prompt solutions. In the field of structural reforms, following the adoption of the Pension Act, the labour market reform, which should enable employers easier and price-competitive adaptation to business cycles, continues to remain open. Improvements of the business environment, particularly procedural and tax burdens must remain high among the priorities of the economic policy. Problems with public finances are resolved particularly by cuts in the field of investments and labour costs, while the efficient and reasonable use of public funds is not sufficiently emphasised.
